Purpose

Producing a generation with Sinhala language excellence built on cultural consciousness

Statement

Man is a well-disciplined cultured creature. The Sinhala culture built on the essence of Buddhist
philosophy stands out among the multicultural systems because it is a precious creation with deep
human compassion and pure love for nature, as language is the main means of communication that
inherits that culture. For an in-depth exploration of the cultural consciousness of a country, there is a
need to identify the thinking of that nation in the first place. A thought is formed in a person based on
his or her language and therefore learning a language in that sense will mean gaining the thought of that
nation.
In order to gain Sri Lankan cultural consciousness, it is extremely essential that one has a fair knowledge
of Sinhala language and Sinhala culture. Although Sri Lankans who immigrate to Australia use Sinhala as
their mother tongue, Sinhala language will always be an alien language to the second and third
generation children born to them in Australia and it was this anomaly that prompted the establishment
of Paramita Sinhala Language School in order to address this issue effectively.
Paramita Sinhala Language School is constantly committed to producing Sinhala language masters in
accordance with Sinhala culture and Buddhist religious teachings. This student-centered institution that
has been designed with an activity-based teaching process is an optimal institution for building the
language skills and cultural awareness that your child needs.
In conclusion I would like to pay my personal respect to the dedicated teaching staff of this institution
and the parents whilst invoking blessings of triple-gem to this educational institution

Mr. Jagath Dias

Coordinator

It is my pleasure as the School Co-ordinator to write this message to you
Our school which focuses on teaching Sinhalese as a second language to our children has been in existence since 1998. We are very fortunate to have a group of very dedicated teachers who give their time freely to develop our children to learn a new language and also to provide them with opportunities to display their talents. The school gives the opportunity to students to display their skills in the performing arts be it singing (Vesak bakthi geetha) dancing and acting in the concerts. Parents play an invaluable role in the school by providing support when required for these events.
I would like to encourage every parent to take an active role in the school by joining the committee or providing whatever support you can. It is a very fulfilling task to teach our children their mother language and the values behind our unique culture.
I wish your children the very best as they navigate through the courses offered and please feel free to reach out with your ideas and suggestions.
